Born in Burgdorf, in Switzerland, Patrícia Fernandes Pires has a Bachelor degree in Music, from Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo do Porto (ESMAE), where she studied flute under professor Ana Raquel Lima. She holds as well a Master’s Degree in Music Teaching from the University of Minho, under the guidance of Gil Magalhães, having completed her professional internship at the Conservatório de Música Calouste Gulbenkian de Braga. Currently attends the Master of Arts in Music course at Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, in Belgium, guided in flute by Carlos Bruneel, and in piccolo by Katlijn Sergeant.
In the academic year 2018/2019 she was awarded a study grant by Fundação GDA.
In 2019, Patrícia Pires performed as a soloist in Germany, accompanied by the Höri Musiktage Bodensee Festival orchestra. Other performances as a soloist include concerts with the Wind Orchestra of the Academia Valentim Moreira de Sá, with the Wind Orchestra of the “1st National Meeting of Young Musicians” in Vieira do Minho, with the Orquestra Sinfónica 430, in Vigo, and with Sinfonietta de Braga.
Since 2014, she has been a member of Guimarães Orchestra, currently occupying the position of Principal Flute, having also collaborated with other orchestras such as the Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa, with whom she had the opportunity to play in Germany, at the Young Euro Classic Festival at the Konzerthaus in Berlin, and at the Kongress Palais Stadthalle, Festsaal in Kassel. In 2018, she was also chosen as Principal Flute at the Youth Flanders Orchestra, in Belgium, and in 2019 was awarded a position at the Academy of Brussels Opera Orchestra La Monnaie and at the Belgium National Orchestra.
